Where you stay shapes how you experience Bali.
We’ve handpicked unique stays around Mount Batukaru – from our own Balikaru Living bungalows to boutique hideaways and rustic farmhouses. Each place offers a different way to connect with the island’s soul.
Staying at Balikaru Living means becoming part of the village. Our two bungalows sit within a lush hillside garden, surrounded by temples, rice fields, and everyday Balinese life. Step outside and you’ll hear the roosters crow, meet farmers tending their Subak rice terraces, or join a slow walk into the jungle. This is where village rhythm and nature embrace you – far away from mass tourism, under the stars of Bali’s mountains
Balikaru Living is one of Bali’s truly unique stays – just two bungalows nestled within a hillside village garden at the foot of Mount Batukaru. Here, daily life flows slowly: roosters crow at dawn, temples stand just steps away, and rice farmers tend the Subak fields that surround you. Staying here means being part of the village rather than apart from it – a rare experience that few accommodations in Bali can offer. From this heart of tradition, you can also discover other distinctive places to stay in our region..
Just a few kilometers west of Balikaru lies the Karu Cabin, a cluster of small wooden bungalows tucked into a lush tropical garden. Towering ferns, bamboo groves, and a nearby stream create the feeling of being completely enveloped by nature. This retreat is far from luxury, yet it offers exactly what true individualists and adventurers seek: peace, solitude, and the chance to live simply.
From here, those with a spirit for discovery can embark on a guided trek with a local ranger. The trail winds through jungle, subak rice fields, bamboo forests, and shallow mountain rivers – a 90-minute to 2-hour adventure that leads towards the sacred Mount Batukaru. For our guests, Balikaru also provides transfers to join our trekking tours and other authentic experiences with ease.
While basic in comfort, Karu Cabin’s charm lies in its raw simplicity and jungle setting. Guests traveling with their own car or motorbike will find it especially convenient. For couples, solo travelers, or anyone wishing to disconnect from the noise of the world, Karu Cabin offers one of the more unique stays in Bali – rooted in solitude, nature, and adventure.
